Midsommar 2000

Midsommar is celebrated the weekend closest to the summer solstice, usually on June 21st. A Midsummer pole or Maypole(stång or majstång) that has been decorated with flowers, leaves and branches is raised into place by many men. While the men are doing all of this work, the girls are making flower crowns. People join hands to sing and to circle-dance around the pole. Also, food, games, music and dancing take place for the enjoyment of everyone.

This year's Midsommar was held at the residence of Brother Don Lindgren. During this Year of the Viking, we were fortunate to have a "Living Viking" representative, Magnus Hrolf with us. Don Lindgren had his viking replica boat, the "Viking" at the celebration.
