wildfowl in wood

by

Dick Prehn

I started at age 14,
carving a few duck decoys to fool a few ducks.
Some fifty years later it has evolved into an art form that every now and then fools a few people.
I use mostly basswood and tupelo.
The birds are etched with a fine-bladed burning pen to get the feather patterns and the softness.
All are hand-painted with acrylic paint and the habitat is also hand made.
I would like to share my art work with you.

,Meet Woodie-Carved in 1982.,

This chickadee flew to Arizona with its owner.

This 3/4 size Mallard Drake stole my wifes heart and resides in our home.

The blue-wing teal hen is popular and always in demand.

.When I can't catch them ,

I carve them.
